July of the year 2017, Saint Mary will celebrate the whale. In more specific, it will especially be the humpback whale that will be highlighted. The festival is in its third edition. The watchword is responsibility and festivities. Youth will be privileged.

Strong messages such as environmental protection will be conveyed during this festive week. The event will begin on 8 July and will close on 16. Athletes will be able to participate in different competitions such as the trail 45 km on the first day of the festival and the trail 10 km on last day. The V.T.T. des Baleines is as interesting as the trails. Cyclists will also have 45 km to go.

In the main village defined as the heart of entertainment, various events such as the parade, games and dinner concerts will take place. You will enjoy traditional and modern Malagasy songs, music available in different rhythms and styles. But the song of the whales is quite different ! You can hear them on a safari. Knowledgeable and qualified guides will teach you how to observe them.

It is surely thanks to the presence of these cetaceans that Nosy Boraha is called the sanctuary of the Indian Ocean..

The main organizers of the Whale Festival are the Sainte Marie Tourist Office (OTSM), the Cetaceans of Madagascar association (CETAMADA) and the local population. The Saint-Mariens willingly participate in all the activities, offering tourists and visitors from the four corners of the world their most beautiful smile and warm welcome !
