Good news for tourism operators in northern Madagascar. The direct line linking Antsiranana to Reunion has resumed since 22 December 2016. This air link should boost the tourism sector in this area, especially in Antsiranana.

The flight will be operated with a turboprop aircraft of 30 Clutch type seats 120 Brazilian made. For the inaugural flight on Thursday 22 December, the device transported 24 passengers coming from Pierrefonds La Réunion.

After two years of suspension, the resumption of this line was made possible thanks to the initiative of the company Malagasy Madagasikara Airways, which already connects several large cities in Madagascar since 2015.

According to the explanations of the CEO of the company, the Antsiranana liaison- Pierrefonds will operate at the frequency of a weekly flight, with a departure scheduled every Thursday and a return to Reunion every Monday. And in order to satisfy customers and operators, Madagasikara Airways plans to acquire another aircraft with a capacity of 70 places in 2017.
