On Andranonampango Foulpointe through Mahavelona

The story creates names. Andranonampango was once the name given to this resort located more than fifty kilometers north of Tamatave. At the time of the British occupation, the village was a place of trade. It was an English pirate, Thomas White, who baptized the "Hopeful Point". Later, this name was Anglicized to give rise to the name "Foulpointe". However, the people kept calling their territory "Mahavelona".

In the reign of King Radama Ie (1810-1828), Mahavelona was a strategic base. The king built a fort which he called "Mandan'i Mahavelona" to defend against any naval offensive. The architecture of the building, Nowadays, became a tourist residence, is admirable. The shape of the building is rounded. It was cleverly created so that any projectile that reaches back to the sender as a boomerang along a reflected path. And what materials were used for the walls and bullets become reflectors ? - Corals and eggs !
