ornithologists, domestic and foreign tourists, tour operators, tourist guides and students highly interested and passionate about the ornithological wealth of the Boeny region, participated in the “Bird safari”, organized by the Boeny Regional Tourist Office, in the region of Ampitsopitsoka, the 19 the 22 November 2016.
This unprecedented event was organized with the technical and financial assistance of Asity Madagascar, the organization that manages the wetlands of the New Mahavavy-Kinkony Complex Protected Area, (NAP – CMK). Sacred Ibis, pink flamingos, terns…the forty visitors registered by the’ ORTB was able to discover on the site, near 25 bird species, dont 14 are migratory, 5 endemic and 6 nesters.
The visit took place in a canoe, along the Mahavavy river. Which also allowed tourists to admire the primitive mangrove forest. in short, it was a birdwatching trip with total success and an unforgettable experience !
Remember that the sole objective of this bird safari is to develop a circuit focused on bird observation, so that villagers can benefit from the economic benefits of exploiting the natural wealth of the region.
