Located in the northeast of Madagascar, the island of Sainte-Marie is a true paradise on earth. This old pirate hideout is a must-see if you want to explore the Big Island. Its seabed, its floral species, humpback whales as well as its culinary specialties, make it one of the most popular destinations in the Indian Ocean and even in the world.
Several options are available to us, to go to Sainte-Marie; by air or by sea, starting from Soanierana Ivongo or Mahambo. The Riz Debout team chose the Mahambo option, to enjoy the calm and beauty of this small seaside village on the east coast, located about twenty kilometers from Foulpointe. From this place, the crossing is done aboard El Condor, which ensures the daily connection between Mahambo and Sainte-Marie. The 18 meter long boat, classified high seas, air-conditioned, will make you travel to Sainte Marie in complete peace and in exceptional comfort.
Poultry meat preparations based on vanilla or coconut milk and seafood and shellfish make Sainte-Marie’s reputation.
