When migrating whales in Madagascar ...

You will find from June until September around Madagascar. More than a dozen whales are listed in the world, but it is mainly humpback whales and whale sharks that frequent the warm waters of the Big Island. The Festival of Whales in Sainte Marie

When these giant fish migrate around Sainte Marie island or Nosy Boraha, they are the subject of a festival. Every year, the saint-Marienne population, supported by CETAMADA Association and the Tourism Office, celebrated their arrival. En 2018, the Whale Festival is in its third edition. It will take place in July and will last more than a week, more precisely, between the 7 and the 15 of the month. In the program : shows et spectacles, sporting events and games. The event has become an opportunity for meetings between local and foreign tourists. These marine mammals are now an important part of Malagasy culture.

Whale watching : a new experience

You'll start in small groups to go and watch whales frolic. Male humpback whales perform majestic jumps, rising out of the water by hitting it with their fins. You'll hear them sing. You may be lucky enough to see a female give birth to one calf, then learning to take his first steps.
You will recognize a humpback whale with its black back view. when jumps, you will notice that its belly is a whitish color. The small tubercles on his head and his jaw characterize.
If Humpback whales love to around Sainte Marie, whale sharks prefer waters of Nosy Be. Certainly, whales are huge, but the whale shark, his, is a true juggernaut. Some are long of 15 meters, and yet, these giant fish are harmless. You can swim very well with this species of brown dotted with white spots, wide mouth and lateral eyes. Just put your fins, your mask and snorkel to dive and rub shoulders.
